An energy-balanced uneven clustering (EBUC) algorithm was proposed in this paper. The main task of EBUC was to prolong the lifetime of the net work, balance energy consumption between nodes. The algorithm divided the network into clusters of uneven range, and clusters closer to the base station have smaller ranges than those farther away from the base station. In addition, mathematical expression was deduced to solve the optimal range of clusters in the minimum energy consumption of the network. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm balances the energy consumption over the network efficiently and prolong the network lifetime remarkably.
