A number of hull forms of ship with good resistance, maneuverability and seakeeping performances are required to found quickly to achieve preferable platform support during the conceptual design phase. By introducing the multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) methodology, the system was divided into three sub-disciplinary and each disciplinary was endowed it with appropriate design variables and control equations. Both the hull forms database and design of experiment are researched to determine the bound of design variables and NSGA-2optimization algorithm is adopted to get Pareto front. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the process of modeling and the results shows that some hull forms with better hydrodynamic performance can be found using MDO method in the conceptual design phase.
