This research presents the design and development of a solar powered carbon monoxide alarm. The prototype of this research was designed on a PIC16F877 microcontroller that performed the acquisition, processing and display of carbon monoxide (CO) data from MiCS-5132 automotive pollution gas sensor and displayed on 7 segment displays. The prototype used the photovoltaic panel for energize energy to the system. The system was tested using carbon monoxide from car exhaust fumes and it worked satisfactory.
