To achieve the precision control of phase current or phase flux linkage in switched reluctance motor (SRM), the higher switching frequency of converter is required to increase dynamic response speed. However, higher switching frequency may cause higher switching losses, higher Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) and lower overall efficiency. The use of soft-switching techniques in converter can resolve these issues. A novel soft-switching strategy for switched reluctance motor power converter was proposed. Based on the introduction of the topology and characteristics of circuit, the zero voltage turn-on principle of phase switch was analyzed. Finally, detailed simulation study of the complete system is presented and is validated with experimental results.
