We performed an evaluation regarding the influence of facial landmark mislocalization on automatic age estimation system. In automatic age estimation, it is crucial to locate facial landmarks accurately. In all published age estimation papers, facial landmarks had been located manually. We presented a fully automatic age estimation system in which the localization of the landmarks has been performed by using the Active Shape Models (ASMs). Experimental results on the FG-NET aging face images show the landmarks mislocalization has significant effect on age estimation system. For error of this localization rather than manually localization, the age estimation performance deteriorates. Based on the authors' knowledge, this is the first research that studies the effect of facial landmark mislocalization on age estimation system.
