XML has gained wide acceptance as the de facto standard for storing and exchange of information over the Internet. XML is rich with semantics but lack tools to express the underlying meaning in a more simple form. Although some conceptual model for XML have been proposed, there is still no standard model which is able to represent XML semantics completely. In this paper, we present an extended Entity-Relationship model, our XML Conceptual Model (X-CM). First, we briefly outline the basic constructs of X-CM. To further demonstrate the viability of our model, we model a real world application based on X-CM.
