State-of-the-art large-size LED display system aims for high-definition to reproduce realistic images. In order to achieve this goal, the number of LED lamps per unit area is rapidly increasing. However, a great number of LED arrays induce many thermal problems and high power consumption. In this paper, we introduce a new probability-based PWM method in terms of hardware efficiency. Although the hardware cost of the proposed PWM method is comparable to the simplest PWM to date, it can provide all functional merits of stochastic PWM generation.
