The latest edition of ASME XII was published in 2010.

New to the 2010 edition are changes throughout regarding the new ASME Certification Mark with T Designator and Modal Appendix 4 for Ton Containers. This Modal Appendix is the third of four to be developed by the Committee.

This Modal Appendix like its predecessors contains Mandatory requirements consisting of twelve Sections in addition to those within the body of the Code necessary to construct Ton Containers. The father of welded pressure drums that were developed under ISO 21172, Ton Containers are described as an un-insulated cylindrical steel tank, with skirts on both ends that serve to protect valves and relief devices which are only allowed within the tank heads. Construction allows forge and fusion welding depending on the specific Category of tank and weld and pressure relief devices may consist of fusible plugs, rupture disks, and or spring loaded relief devices.
