25 Welding and Brazing Qualifications

This chapter covers the qualification of welding and brazing procedures and the qualification of individuals performing those procedures as prescribed in Section IX of the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code. It reviews the qualification rules and provides commentary on those requirements. Where comments are provided, they represent the personal opinion of the author and should not be regarded as the position of the ASME Code or its Subcommittee on Welding.

The information presented herein is based on the 2010 edition. The author's writing may have simplified some of the Code rules in summarizing the cited requirements; therefore, all of the details of the rules might not have been addressed. The reader is advised to consult Section IX as well as the applicable Construction Code for the specific rules.
