In the present work, the impact of titanium-containing precipitates on hydrogen embrittlement (HE) is investigated of dual-phase-, complex-phase- and tempered martensitic grades with tensile strength levels between 1200 MPa and 1400 MPa. From permeation measurements the hydrogen diffusion and the trapping parameters are determined. The susceptibility to HE of the different steel grades is determined using a constant load test on electrochemically charged samples with a punched hole. The hydrogen permeation experiments indicate that the addition of Ti reduces the hydrogen diffusion coefficients in all investigated grades. The mechanical tests show that complex-phase grades are more resistant to HE than dual-phase- and tempered martensitic grades. However, a significant influence of Ti and therefore of Ti-containing precipitates on the HE-susceptibility is not detected.
