Telecommunication, which is defined as the use of information transmission over some significant distances to communicate, employs the electrical devices and the use of radio and microwave communications as well as the fiber optics and their associated electronics plus the use of the orbiting satellites and the Internet. A telecommunication network is a collection of terminals, links, and nodes which connect together so that communications can be made between users of the terminals. Networks include the circuit switching or message switching. The terminals in the network must have a unique address so the messages or connections of addresses in the network can be routed to the proper terminal/recipients. The telecommunication network generally consists of several basic components which include terminals, telecommunications processors, telecommunications channels, computers, and telecommunications control software.
