Nowadays, cameras are used in many buildings for the security. But we need to have someone to look at the camera’s screen to detect if something abnormal is happening. And we all know that a guard cannot look into those video screens for several hours without being bored and losing their full concentration. This is the motivation for our project. This paper proposes a framework to detect loitering activities from multiple uncalibrated video cameras. The loitering detection system; 1) track all objects on the screen, 2) locates suspicious objects, 3) sends a “message” to the guard with regards to the object, and finally, 4) mark the object with a red rectangle. Experimental results are presented and discussed in detail in the paper.
