The application of domain analysis in software engineering, in general, and specifically, in software reuse has contributed to a new level of understanding on how to do the development of high quality software more effectively. This paper presents the application of domain analysis on open source software (OSS) using several metrics: Coupling between Object Classes (CBO), Response for Class (RFC), Message Passing Coupling (MPC), Number of EXTernal Methods Called (EXT), Number of Classes (NOC) and Defect Density (DD). The results show that for the metrics tested, two of them, CBO and DD show that there are some commonalities between the systems within the particular domain.
