In order to visualize mass mine tunnel point cloud data, this paper proposes a data model of point cloud basing on an extended quadtree and general algorithm of visualization of 3D mass data. By researching the detail of the multi-resolution LOD selection algorithm, we have developed a plug-in of point cloud data layer by using MapGIS TDE for displaying the model. The experiments have proved that this method can quickly access and visualize large-scale point cloud to meet the visualization requirements of mass 3D point cloud data of mine tunnel.
