ASME B31.1 requires leak testing of all piping systems other than lines open to the atmosphere, such as vents or drains downstream of the last shut-off valve. For boiler external piping, a hydrostatic test in accordance with PG-99 of ASME BPVC Section I, conducted in the presence of the Authorized Inspector, is required.
