Chinese traditional residential building is one outstanding architectural form of accommodating climate and geographical environment. The way for its building reflects the ecological wisdom of local people for adjusting measures to local conditions. And Chinese traditional dwelling houses have good climate adaptability. Through deeply research to find out the valuable maneuver and technology which help to achieve good climate adaptability in traditional resides will greatly promote the ecological architecture design today. Combined with the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation method, analytical model was build and the traditional residential building’s effects of hilly topographical features and building forms, located in Hubei province, on natural ventilation in winter and summer were studied. Based on the analysis, some technical measures of natural ventilation energy-saving design were discussed, such as general layout, patio, alley, windows and doors. Based on the analysis, this paper aims to find out the key method and technology of natural ventilation energy-saving design of traditional dwelling houses, and open out the different ways between traditional resides and modern ecological architecture to deal with the climate adaptability problems and energy saving design.
