Materials with large molecular size or high molecular weight are called macromolecules and those with biomedical or therapeutic applications and involve bioprocessing for their isolation or synthesis are known as Biomacromolecules. Examples include therapeutic peptides and proteins, siDNA and hormones. A small sized drug molecule may also be macromolecularized by combining, complexing or conjugating it with a macromolecular carrier such as poly ethylene glycol (PEG) or human serum albumin (HSA) [109].
