A novel analytical model for the flux linkage of switched reluctance motor has been presented, considered the symmetry characteristics of flux linkage versus rotor position curves. In this proposed model, the flux linkage depending on the rotor position is represented by a limited number of terms of Fourier series. The coefficients of the terms are formulated by 6-order polynomials. Simulation results show that, the flux linkage calculated with the proposed model matches well with the one obtained through finite element analysis. The instantaneous torque derived from the proposed model also matches well with the torque computed by finite element analysis...
