Volume graphics can represent the inner properties of the objects, and voxelization is an indispensable stage of converting surface model into volumetric model. In this paper we present a novel method to voxelize the triangle meshes. This method utilizes the octree to store the voxels, which makes it possible to implement the voxelization on PC rather than relying on high-performance graphics workstations. Through the easily coding scheme of octree and the strongest constraint 6-adjacent relation, the method can access the neighbor nodes quickly. The innovation is that we proposed the projection vector method to label the interior seed nodes. The experiments proved that our method is accurate and efficient. Several models generated by this method are used in a Lattice Boltzmann method based hydrodynamics analysis.
