322 A Distributed Source-Independent Connected Coverage Broadcast Algorithm

In the MV and LV PLC networks, flooding is usually very costly and will result the broadcast storm problem. In this paper, a distributed connected coverage broadcast algorithm proposed. It is a kind of new source-independent MPR algorithm. In this algorithm, there are three kinds of nodes in the network which are head, gateway and member among which only head and gateway can retransmit broadcast messages. It uses node importance to select head node and new self-pruning procedure to optimize the subset of head and gateways. The theoretic analysis is presented in this paper. The performance of the algorithm is also evaluated by simulation. The results show that the new algorithm is more efficient than MPR and GMPR.
