In proxy signature scheme one user, called the original signer can delegate his/her signing capability to another user, called the proxy signer. This concept is very similar to a person delegating his/her seal to another person in the real world. In this paper, we propose a new type of proxy signature scheme, called the self proxy signature scheme based on elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem (ECDLP) in which the signer delegates his/her signing capability on himself/herself and uses the proxy key pair to generate temporary self proxy keys. Advantages of using such kind of scheme are that the original signer protects his/her original private/public key pair and also uses multiple private/public key pairs simultaneously. We show that the proposed scheme is secure against several attacks which are necessary for self proxy signature scheme. Moreover this scheme is effective in computation as compared to that for the other related self proxy signature schemes.
