During the course of the study on network technology, the network simulation software can be used to simulate some complex, costly network experiments. NS2(Network Simulator version 2) is an open source free and scalable network simulation software developed by UC Berkeley. The legacy code in NS2 has not yet implemented the PIM-SSM(Protocol Independent Multicast-Source Specific Multicast) and just has a simple implementation of RTP(Real-time Transport Protocol)/RTCP(Real-time Transport Control Protocol). In this paper, we make use of PIM-SSM Extension to NS2 [1] and legacy code in NS2 to implement RTP/RTCP with PIM-SSM routing in NS2, according to the RFC3350 [2] and RFC 5760 [3].
