Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP) is a method for determining the assignment of resources to production processes, and the sequence of the manufacturing operations needed to produce a given part or product. In this paper we present a generic computer aided process planning methodology that provides an estimate to various production routings and resource allocations. The methodology is based on a gap analysis between the resources capabilities and the production requirements. The method scans through alternative routings and resource allocations, and determines the optimal route for each product.
