Overlapping activities is an important tool of concurrent engineering to accelerate the product development (PD) process. However, overlapping can not only compress duration, but also increase schedule risk. This paper presents an overlapping process model taking sequential and feedback overlapping into account, and analysis their influence on duration and cost. Design structure matrix (DSM) showing different overlapping is proposed.
