Recently the SIP-based multimedia service in wireless networks has become a hot topic. The reliable SIP signaling transmission can provide high guarantee for wireless multimedia service. So this paper considers how to provide reliable transmission of SIP signaling in the wireless network with variable, high error rate and high packet loss rate channels. To provide reliable transmission of SIP signaling, a combined mechanism with feedback in the receiver and the timeout retransmission in the sender of the SIP server is put forward, then the performance of the transmission mechanism is analyzed. It shows that the reliable SIP transmission mechanism can greatly reduce the failure of the SIP-based wireless multimedia session call with lower bandwidth cost.
