When a single line-to-ground fault occurs in a resonance grounding system, due to the compensation of the Petersen coils, the fault current and grounding arc over-voltage can be reduced effectively. But how to select the faulty line is difficult and it is important to safety of power system. The scale of power networks have been expanding and cables are increasingly used so that capacitance currents are much greater. Although faulty line selection methods are various, effects are not good. This paper thoroughly analyses the reasons why effects of faulty line selection are not good according to real situation. Faulty line selection technology cooperated with style and control of Petersen coils is put forward. Besides, technology coping with weak signals is applied to improve accuracy of Faulty line selection.
