The transient power quality has become a difficult detection of power quality because of its fast break,nonstationary characteristics. Lifting wavelet is a useful method to analyze the abrupt signal because lifting wavelet can simultaneously show the local characteristic of time-domain signal and frequency-domain signal. This paper advances a novel method for detec-tion of transient power quality disturbance by using lifting scheme of wavelet transform. In order to validate the method, this paper uses db4 lifting wavelet transform to the detection of the transient power quality disturbance signals like voltage sag, voltage interruption, voltage swell, transient oscillation and transient impulse. The simulation results show that the lifting wavelet transform can more accurately detect and locate power quality disturbances.
