Virtual Instrument (VI) is often used in virtual maintenance system for test and measurement. This paper is mainly about key techniques in geometrical modeling, behavior modeling, operation response modeling of virtual instrument. Five basic behavior patterns and operation response model based on production rules are given out in this paper. The methods and technologies have been applied to a certain type of virtual maintenance system, where their validity been proved.
