A fuzzy PID control strategy was studied to improve the performance of a controlled system of angular displacement of motor shaft. The fuzzy strategy was studied for offering the increments of the PID parameters of PID controller quickly without large quantity of experiments. The PID parameters can be tuned on line according to the error |e| of the controlled angular displacement and its change rate Δet by the fuzzy PID control strategy. Experimental results show that the fuzzy PID control strategy could meet the requirement of computer numerical control machine tool in industry, and is superior to the conventional PID, with such advantages as smaller absolute error, faster response and smaller overshoot.
