This paper introduces a block adjustment method of airborne InSAR images based on 3D model. It provides an efficient way to geocod DEMs as well as grey scale images. This new method requires few GCPs (ground control points) which are difficult to measure in mountain area. As a result, it saves a lot of manpower, financial power and material resources in the process of cartography. The new method was successfully used on InSAR images acquired over Shanxi area (Midwest of China). The experimental results show that the block adjustment based on 3D model could reach the same level of accuracy as the approach of rectifying each single image separately. The later requires a large number of GCPs.
