AC servo systems have been widely employed in a certain sorts of gun control equipments (GCEs), and to determine the control strategies to exhibit high robustness and high precision remains the focus of attention. In order to improve the working performance of GCEs, a semi-adaptive fractional order PID control method, which is short for NN-FPID, is proposed and designed. The integration and differentiation orders are simplified as constants and all of the gains are on-line updated based on artificial neural network. The feasibility and availability of the proposed control strategy is assessed by numerical simulation. The simulation results demonstrate that the step response time is 0.5s, and a reduction of the external disturbance to about 1% is obtained. When tracking a sinusoidal command, the tracking error is about 0.024%. It is verified that the proposed NN-FPID is simutaneously of fast response, fine tracking accuracy and high robustness, and it is a fine choice for implementing the novel control strategy of GCEs.
