This paper describes a ZigBee-based passive wireless temperature measuring system in substation. The sensor technology used in the system is SAW-based passive wireless temperature measuring. It has many advantages of no battery- powered, low cost, long life, small size, easy to install, adaptable and so on. The communication technology used is ZigBee-based wireless sensor network technology. It has many advantages of low-power, low cost, low latency, high capacity and so on. This paper gives detailed analysis on the principles of passive wireless temperature measuring and the ZigBee- based wireless sensor network. The equipment temperature measuring system in substation combines the advantages of sensor technology and communication network together, so it has superior performance and broad application prospect.
