Carrier extraction is necessary in wireless receivers, which helps correct phase error and reduce bit-error-rate. Traditional methods usually adopt the squaring loop or Costas loop for carrier extraction. The obvious disadvantages of slow convergence speed and large phase jitter deteriorate the demodulation performance. A new method, Hilbert phase detection algorithm, is proposed in this paper. First, we analyze the method in detail, and then the DBPSK demodulation model using the method is built and verified by FPGAs.
