16 Evaluation of Dependence in Standard ISO 3685 for Selected Cutting Materials

One of the most important property of cutting tool is its durability. Cutting tool durability determines its cutting properties and machinable ability. Technical practice uses a lot of cutting tools made of different materials. According to selecting workpiece have to be defined technological conditions. For all selected technological conditions is important prescribe parameters for machining. The basic parameters for every cutting process are cutting speed, feed and cutting depth. These technological conditions are defined by means of calculation or by means of mechanical engineering tables. Specification of tool wear by means of calculation is very difficult. Durability of cutting tools is defined in standard ISO 3685. In standard ISO 3685 is defined dependence for different cutting materials and standard included process evaluation of tool durability for cutting materials made of high speed steel, sintered carbide and cutting ceramic. The article describes evaluation of dependence on the selected type of cutting materials and theirs comparison with measured values dependence that are defined in standard ISO 3685.
