The paper presents a study of the knowledge development in the ergonomics research field, based on the integration of the co-operant sciences: engineering, management, work safety, labor medicine, informatics etc., for solving complex problems related to occupational risks assessment, by using methods and tools of knowledge management. The complexity of the proposed approach is demonstrated by its multidisciplinary way of dealing with the thematic and by the methods applied to estimate the results (using modern tools of information and communication technologies and knowledge management). The paper presents some international/European trends and the Romanian context of the occupational risks problematic. The presentation will focus on the developed occupational risk management system that will drive on the work for defining the platform for the occupational risk assessment. Some conclusions and research perspectives will be presented in the final part of the paper.
