A tolerance-analysis-oriented assembly model based on datum-flow-chain (DFC) is proposed in the paper, which describes the inter-relationship among the components and parts and the detail information of their constraint and location relationships. Two steps are utilized to create the model, which are component/part level and feature level assembly model. According to the model, the tolerance chain could be got, which simplifies the tolerance-analysis calculation. Finally, a case of body-in-white assembly is used to illustrate the assembly model.
