This article depicts the importance of reuse of design process in designing of products giving a new idea of design process gene by introducing the genetic principle and genetic engineering into the field of product design. The concept of design process gene is put forward which is constructed with the similar essential elements belong to different design processes according to certain rules. By the recombination and modification to design process gene, design process reuse can be implemented.
