The signs inside railway station play an important role in directing and evacuating the passengers, ensuring the efficient transportation function as one of the methods giving information to the passengers. Hence it is worthy to design the reasonable and obvious signs inside the railway station depending on ergonomics. This paper takes Shanghai south railway station as an example to analyze the signs based on shop floor survey. From five aspects, i.e. orienting signs, positioning signs, safety signs, etc. we point out strengths and weaknesses of the signs inside Shanghai south railway station in order to make the signs humane and effective.
