Examination timetabling is usually solved by genetic algorithm with less than ideal effectiveness. This paper proposes an algorithm which is on the base of genetic algorithm and combined with taboo search and coloring theory to realize automated timetabling. Genetic algorithm is used to realize global search and taboo research to local optimization, accelerating convergence rate and avoiding sub-optimization, solving various forced or feasible constraints well with solution users satisfied with.
