The rapid growth of Internet and wireless media in recent days has made secure data communication a necessary factor. None of the security techniques which are presently in use can guarantee absolute security and prevent cipher-text attacks. In this paper a general encoding scheme is proposed, which can be used for secure communication against cipher text attacks. It uses simple modular encoding techniques, based on a randomly generated number. Introduction of this ‘random’ factor in the encoded message makes it more secure against adaptive chosen cipher-text attacks. The mapping techniques and the recursive modular encoding of the message provide compression and change the message to a more unknown format. The encoding scheme requires low computations and is perfect for MANET. The final encoded message is communicated over a secure channel using some standard encryption schemes. Lastly, security of the scheme is analyzed, which proves that it is secure and practical at the same time.
