63 Design and Development of Tourism Planning Management Information System Based on GIS

The lagging behind of tourism planning and tourism information management seriously delays the tourism development in China. Setting up the tourism planning and management information system is beneficial to the comprehensive managing and programming of tourist areas. Based on the discussion of tourism planning and management information system development modes, the paper puts forward the overall structure and main functions of the system, which determines the design method for tourist area data base, realizing the connection between the spatial data base and relational data base and graphic display of informational data. Combining with the Component based geographic information system Map Objects, functions like information search, statistics and analysis, basic graphs operation, spatial analysis of tourist area are designed on the VB platform. It also analyzes key technology of data bases connection and special map drawing and describes the kernel codes. After commissioning, the system is running normally, which can be widely used in planning and managing a variety of tourism resources.
