Chinese shipbuilding industry has developed rapidly in recent years, but there exits significant gap in the shipbuilding technology and efficiency, compared with those world-class shipyards in Japan and South Korea. The fundamental reason for the gap lies in the different modes of shipbuilding and the differences in industrial organizations caused by different modes of shipbuilding. This article describes the concept of modularization, modular building and modular network, analyses the condition of Chinese shipbuilding industrial organization and the position in the global value chain, pointing out the factors that hinder the construction of Modular Network of Chinese Shipbuilding, and provides the idea of the construction of Chinese shipbuilding modular network.
