Computer Assistant Engineering (CAE) simulation technology is high efficiency, safety, and less subject to environmental constraints, etc, in the solution of engineering problems, which can help engineers to check the design quickly and find design flaws and shortcomings. It has become one of indispensable tools in modern engineering design. In this paper, the CAE stimulation technology is used to analysis the influence of defects dimensions on the residual strength of casing with abrasion defects in sour gas well. The residual tensile and collapse strength of casing with uniform and non-uniform abrasion defects are obtained in different abrasion lengths and depths. The calculating results show the CAE stimulation technology is an effective method for casing design and verification, which should be widely used in the petroleum field. When the abrasion depth is fixed, the residual tensile strength of abrasion casings increases with the length of abrasion parts and get a maximum, finally; the residual collapse strength of abrasion casings decreases as the length of abrasion parts increasing and reaches a minimum at last.
