This paper introduces the design method of copper metal mold for ductile iron castings idle gear based on UG. Numerical simulation of mold filling and solidification process for permanent mold castings are studied based on CAE. The design process of permanent mold is perfected more. The projects of design are worked out finally through this way. It can increase the accuracy and efficiency of the permanent mold design and shorten the manufacturing cycle of the permanent mold.
