Present research is an attempt to develop an efficient and reliable finite element model to simulate the low velocity dynamic response of composite laminates as function of time through laminate thickness during transverse impact. The 3D elasticity based layerwise finite element method is employed to develop a computer code named IMPLW3D. The procedure permits a systematic and straightforward modeling of elastic foundations, restrained supports, mixed and arbitrary boundary conditions and free edge effects, elastic line and point supports. The ABAQUS software is also used to modeling the impact response of laminates and having a reference for comparing the developed results.
