9 Gasoline Engine Knock Detection from Vibration Signals Using Statistical Characters

A simple knock detection method for spark ignition engines is proposed in this paper. The signal acquisition is done by an accelerometer screwed on the engine block. The statistics characteristics of the vibration signals are analyzed, and then a knock detection method based on kurtosis is proposed. The method can detect knock with low intensity while short data serial is used.
