This paper briefly illustrates the Bible's position in Western literature. The Bible, as the essence of Western civilization, is the gradual fusion of the East and the West, that is, the ancient Hebrew culture and the ancient Greek culture. At the very beginning, The Bible first was persecuted by the Roman Empire, and later used by the rulers; the Bible's influence is reflected in all aspects of Western society. The paper superficially talks about the Bible's impact of on the 17th century British literature.

It analyzes the Bible images of the two outstanding writers' works in the 17th century, as well as Milton and Bunyan's own lives, to show a side of the Bible's impact on British literature.
