Fatigue tests were conducted with martensite X3CrNiMo13-4 and a modified version of austenite X2CrNi19-11 with 12.36% Ni, aspect ratio R= -1, frequency 1 Hz, 10 MPa gas pressure at ambient temperature. Fatigue tests of these materials in hydrogen in the Low-Cycle Fatigue (LCF) regime showed a reduction of fatigue life compared to tests conducted in helium. To analyze this behavior in more detail the short crack growth was investigated by using replica method.
