116 Application of Grey System Theory in Subgrade Settlement Forecasting Available to Purchase

According to the grey system theory, which was pioneered by Chinese professor Deng Julong in 1982, the main theory and the building process of the GM (1, 1) model were introduced in this paper. Based on the long-term monitoring data of the 2^nd Guangzhou western ring motorway project, the GM (1, 1) model was build for the forecasting of the subgrade settlements with the help of the computer program MATLAB. By comparing the forecasting results of the GM (1, 1) model with the ones gotten by the hyperbola method, it could be found that the forecasting accuracy of the GM (1, 1) model could be kept in a high level and its applicability is much wider than the hyperbola method. It could be considered that the GM (1, 1) model is an effective settlement forecasting method.
