With the undertake of NASA's constellation program moving at full steam, new challenges in safety and mission assurance (SMA) activity requires a stronger focus on utilization of innovative risk management process and practices within program or enterprise organization in order to intelligently deal with uncertainty, capitalize upon available resources, inform and increase involvement of risk communications to ensure better decisions. This paper introduces a systematic, integrated yet practical approach to risk management for SMA applications. The triple-triplet (Double-T) conceptual framework introduced here for integrated risk management largely extends the risk assessment triplet [1] to include and combine all aspects of SMA elements within a systems engineering framework. Therefore, with the Double-T integrated risk management framework, best risk tradeoff decisions can be achieved with risk insights not only from PRA but from engineering and system safety activities all integrated into a system-based single and complete process.
